Installation led to an error message - Why?
In some cases, Antivirus presents a problem and should be turned off during installation.
Please uninstall Rebit if this is the case, restart the computer, disable Antivirus, and install again.
It may be necessary to open "My Computer" and double-click the Rebit icon to trigger installation.

Can I use my own external hard disk drive?
Yes, the Rebit™ Software CD product and the Rebit™ Multi-PC Software CD product are software-only products intended for use with
an external hard disk drive that you supply.

Does Rebit™ create an image like other products?
Yes, but in a different manner. Rebit™ backs up system critical information differently from files, and this system critical
information is collected once per day as long as the Rebit storage device is available and the computer is on. The collection of
system critical information is much like an image, and Rebit™ combines this with the file information during a system restore.

Can Rebit™ back up my Windows Server 2003 computer?
No. At this time, Rebit™ is not compatible with Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.

Will Rebit™ back up my RAID disk drives?
Yes, however Rebit™ the full-system recovery process will likely not recognize the RAID controller properly for recovery. Recovery back to a single, non-RAID device is then possible.
Will Rebit™ back up my database files and other open files?
Yes, Rebit™ relies on Windows Volume Shadow Service to create reliable backups of database files and other open files like Outlook.pst files.

Does Rebit™ support eSATA drives and internal disk drives?
No. At this time, Rebit™ may not operate in the desired manner. Therefore only external USB hard disk drives are supported.
Can I restore to a larger system hard disk drive?
Yes. The Rebit™ system recovery process will reconstruct the an image of the old disk onto the new system hard disk drive.
The result is a partition size identical to the original, and additional capacity remains unallocated. Using Windows Vista, the
system partition is easily extended into the additional capacity. With Windows XP, a third party disk partitioning utility is required.

Does Rebit™ support FAT32 filesystems?
No. The system volume (usually the C: drive) needs to be NTFS formatted. If the system volume is formatted FAT32, a "convert"
utility is available in the Windows operating system installation. Click here
for more information.
For volumes other than the system volume (e.g. the D: drive), Rebit™ will copy the information once during the inital backup process.
Changes made to files on a FAT32 filesystem are not tracked, and only the original backup is available during restore.

Will Rebit™ back up all my disk drives and partitions?
Yes. By default, Rebit™ will back up all partitions on all internal hard disk drives. You may use the "Drive Selection"
feature to disable partitions on secondary disk drives, but all partitions on the primary internal disk drive (the one with the
running Windows™ operating system) will be backed up. In addition, you may add external USB drives or other disk drives for
backup.

Will Rebit™ back up my Windows™ 2000 or Windows™ ME computer?
No. Rebit is compatible with Windows™ XP (Service Pack 2 and higher) and Windows™ Vista (including Service Pack 1 and higher).
Rebit will be compatible with Windows™ 7 when it becomes available.

Can I transfer my applications to a new computer?
No. Rebit™ is not intended for use in transferring applications or operating systems to a new computer. Due to a number
of reasons, including license protection and driver issues, Rebit does not support this usage. Rebit™ is a wonderful
solution for protecting your current computer, and it also has an easy method of transferring data files to your new computer.
Simply connect the Rebit™ device to the new computer, browse the Rebit™ backup, and drag-and-drop your files
onto the new computer.

Can I reset my Rebit™ back to as-new condition?
Yes. Please contact Rebit™ support with your license key for instructions on downloading and
running the software needed for this operation.
