Rebit™ Return Material Authorization (RMA) Policy

If you believe your Rebit is faulty, please follow the steps below to receive factory service:

1) Before contacting Rebit Company for product service, you should first check the online Rebit Product Troubleshooting Guide to make sure that your Rebit is actually faulty. This may save you expense, time, effort, and the use of your product.

2) Contact the Rebit Company Technical Support Center, which will assist you with warranty status, and provide you with Return Material Authorization (RMA) if product return is needed. In the event that product return is necessary, the support technician will provide you with an RMA Number to use in filling out the RMA Form. You must get RMA approval before returning a product, receiving warranty or other factory service. Any shipment received without an RMA with an RMA Number will be returned to you at your cost.

3) Warranty service will be provided under the terms and conditions of the Rebit Warranty. Other service will be provided on a time and materials basis.

4) To return product for service, pack the Rebit product in a box and packing adequate to protect the product from damage in shipping. Return the product with a copy of the original purchase receipt showing date of purchase and a copy of the completed RMA form, shipping pre-paid, to the Service Center address indicated on the RMA form.

5) If the product is improperly packed, the returned product fault may be determined to be from abuse, which could occur in shipping if not adequately protected. As product abuse is not covered by the product warranty, be sure to pack the returned product with adequate packing to protect it from any damage that could occur in shipment. 6) Rebit Company must receive your returned product for service within 30 days of RMA issuance or your RMA will be cancelled.

7) Rebit Company is not responsible for either Data Loss or Data Recovery. See Rebit Data Recovery Policy for details.

8) Rebit Company will inspect the returned Rebit product and will replace any defective product components with new or refurbished product components.

9) Rebit Company will return the replacement product to you shipping pre-paid. No charges will be made for service covered under product warranty.

Rebit Data Recovery Policy

The Rebit Company offers this list as a reference only, and does not recommend or guarantee the work of any vendor listed.

To return a Rebit product under warranty, the internal hard disk enclosure seal must be intact (not broken) and the product must be returned according to Rebit Company’s policy. If the hard drive enclosure seal has been broken, the warranty will be voided and any warranty claims will not be accepted.

The only exception to this rule is that a product under warranty may be returned with a broken hard drive seal if the seal was broken by a commercial data recovery company for the sole purpose of retrieving critical data for you. In this case, Rebit Company will honor the warranty with the following conditions:

  • Customer must first verify with Rebit Company that the product is still under warranty and obtain a Rebit RMA number.
  • Customer selects and authorizes a commercial data recovery company to retrieve the data.
  • The data recovery company opens up the Rebit hard drive (breaks the seal) for the sole purpose of retrieving data.

The data recovery company provides Customer with the following:

  • Assembled hard drive with data recovery company's label affixed to it stating the hard drive was opened for data recovery purposes.
  • Recovery company-certified written explanation of why the data recovery work was necessary, a description of the work performed on the disk drive, and a description of the conditions under which the work was performed.
  • All original product labels must remain on product components, e.g., serial numbers.
  • Customer returns all Rebit product components, including all the data recovery company items listed above, according to the Rebit RMA process.

Return Product Packaging

When returning a product to Rebit Company:

  • Use thick foam packing to secure the product on all sides during shipment.
  • Alternately, use bubble wrap or foam peanuts on all sides to secure the product for shipment. Do not use newspaper or padded envelopes.
  • Use a corrugated cardboard box for the exterior packaging. Tape box securely.
  • Be sure to enclose a copy of the completed RMA form and a copy of the original purchase receipt showing date of purchase.
  • It is recommended to ship via certified mail or with a carrier that provides a tracking number.
  • The shipping label from your RMA notification email can be cut and taped to the outside of box to be used as a mailing label. Otherwise, clearly write all shipping information and the RMA number on the outside of the box.
