How can I determine what size Rebit I need?

Single-PC version:   Purchase a Rebit backup drive which is the same size or larger than the disk(s) in (or connected to) the system to be backed up. If your disk(s) is nearly full, the size of Rebit should be 50% greater than the sum of the data.

Multi-PC version:   Purchase a Rebit backup drive which is the same size or larger than the sum of all drives to be backed up on all computers.

Will Rebit make my computer run slower?

You should not notice any difference in speed or function of your PC usage. This is because Rebit is designed to perform its work during moments of PC inactivity, such as when you are on the phone, at lunch, or during short breaks in your PC use.

Can the Rebit Multi-PC product protect multiple computers through my network?

No. The Rebit Multi-PC backup is designed to protect up to 6 computers, one at a time. In order to achieve the backup, the Rebit appliance or user-supplied external hard disk drive must be physically attached to the USB port of the computer. In a round-robin fashion, the external storage device may then be connected to each computer with sufficient time to back up any new or modified files from the computer to the Rebit appliance or external hard disk drive.

What does it mean for Rebit to backup in a "continuous" fashion?

This means that moments after any new files are created or any old files are changed and saved on your PC, Rebit makes a backup copy of them. When you delete a file on your PC, the backup copy or copies of that file and its versions remain in your Rebit backup for potential future recovery by you.

Does Rebit protect my PC from viruses?

Rebit is a key part of good antivirus protection. A reputable antivirus software package will scan your PC files for any viruses. Should you lose data due to a virus infection, Rebit allows you to recover files prior to the virus, and, if necessary, recover your entire PC to an earlier point in time.

What, exactly, will Rebit back up on my PC?

Rebit will back up everything contained on the internal and external disks connected to your computer. Note: By default, Rebit will only backup internal drives. You must use the "Select drives to back up" feature to include external drives.

Does Rebit™ support FAT32 filesystems?

Partially. The system volume (usually the C: drive) needs to be NTFS formatted. If the system volume is formatted FAT32, a "convert" utility is available in the Windows operating system installation. Click here for more information.
For volumes other than the system volume (e.g. the D: drive), Rebit™ will copy the information once during the inital backup process. Changes made to files on a FAT32 filesystem are not tracked, and only the original backup is available during restore.

Will Rebit™ back up my Windows™ 2000 or Windows™ ME computer?
